The Board Room
ICEE is a partnership of leaders from business, labor, agriculture,
education, and government, dedicated to increasing economic literacy
in Illinois. We work toward that end with the leadership
of a Governing Board and
a Board of Trustees.
Three new Board of Trustees have joined ICEE to promote economic
and financial literacy throughout the state. It is ICEE’s
mission to help all children in Illinois become effective participants
in the economy, enabling them to benefit themselves and society. We
welcome:
Representative Edward Acevedo
D-Chicago
2nd District
Edward “Eddie” Acevedo has been the State Representative
of the second legislative district, which includes portions of
the Chicago neighborhoods of Pilsen, Bridgeport, Little Village
and McKinley Park, since 1997. Representative Acevedo has
sponsored and passed dozens of bills since taking office in 1997. Some
of his proudest legislative accomplishments include increasing
penalties for murderers and kidnappers, passing the Safe Neighborhood
Act, a crime-prevention package, a $500 Tuition Tax Credit and
the Arnold Morales Bill, an initiative to prevent children from
getting access to dangerous firearms.
Thanks to Rep. Acevedo’s
hard work and diligence, thousands of children and senior citizens
have access to quality health care and affordable prescription
drugs. His efforts have helped expand state programs like
KidCare. Rep. Acevedo is the co-founder and Co-Chair of
the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus, and he is the first Latino
