The annual conference of the National Council on Economic Education
(NCEE), National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE) and
the Global Association of Teachers of Economics (GATE) will
be held at the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter, San Antonio,
Texas on October 5-8, 2005.
The Texas Council on Economic Education will host this year's
conference. This is the largest nationwide conference focusing
on K-12 economic education, featuring:

materials, teaching strategies, new programs and best practices.

sessions for K-12 teachers.

17th Annual Practical Ideas for the Child’s
World Conference

Make transitions fun and magical for young children. Key Note
Speaker, Nola Larson, co-author of three Transition Magician
books will share a magician's strategies for guiding young children.
She will also share a "bag of tricks" from the eight transition
categories in her books.
Workshop sessions will be varied and cover subjects tying rhythm
and rhyme to language development, a teacher roundtable for
sharing information, effective parent-teacher communication,
and economics & children's literature - just to highlight a
few of the twenty-two available workshops.
Attendance at the conference can be applied toward the in-service
hours required by the Illinois Dept of Children and Family Services.

Director will be a featured exhibitor on October 28 and will
present professional development sessions featuring the FFFL
Curriculum on October 29.
If you teach consumer education, work with consumers, interact
with consumers in the workplace, or if you are a consumer, you
should attend this year's conference! The information you will
gain will be invaluable professionally and personally!
Along with the educational sessions there will be an off-site
tour, the Family & Consumer Sciences Showcase featuring research
poster sessions, university student projects, and curriculum

Fall Conference

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
The Governors State University Office of Economic
Education, along with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and
the Illinois Association of School Economic Teachers (IASET) presents
the annual Fall Conference. This year’s topic is “Foreign
Trade, Foreign Exchange: Foreign Concepts?”
Featured speakers will be economists from the
Federal Reserve Bank. Speakers will present information about
the U.S. foreign debt position, the importance of Asian trade
to the Midwest region, implications of globalization for the auto
industry, and an overview of foreign exchange. After lunch, teachers
will present demonstrations of lessons from curriculum materials
that have International Economics as their focus.
The fee of $50 includes conference registration, lunch, curriculum
materials, and a one-year membership in IASET.
Teachers of middle school and high school should plan to attend
the conference on Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Federal Reserve
Bank of Chicago, 230 S. LaSalle Street.
