Economics Poster Contest
The 2004-2005 Economics Poster Contest will soon be underway at ICEE Centers around the state. Students in grades 1-8 can express their creativity by illustrating one of these six economic concepts: scarcity; opportunity cost; productive resources; producers and consumers; specialization; goods and services. Teachers should submit student entries to the regional-level competition in their area. Regional winners will then advance to the ICEE statewide competition in March of 2005.
Twelve winners in each regional competition receive $50 savings bonds. At the state level, twelve winners each receive $100 savings bonds and their poster is published in an annual 12-month economic concepts calendar. A number of Honorable Mention drawings at both the regional and state level will also receive certificates of award. A list of 2004 winners and examples of award winning posters can be found at www.econed-il.org/new.html
