Awards
All schools in the state who participate in the preliminary (online) round of competition receive a certificate of recognition.
Members of the first-place team and the second-place team at the state competition and both winning teacher-coaches, each receive prizes and medals. Both winning teams receive a trophy for their school.
All schools participating in the state finals receive a framed and matted certificate noting their participation in the finals.
The first-place team qualifies for participation in the National semi-finals competition (a proctored set of tests taken at their school). Four top-scoring semi-finalist teams will qualify to advance to the National Economic Challenge Finals in New York City.
New for 2012:
Students of the first place and second place teams at the state finals were offered a $1,000 scholarship opportunity. To be eligible, students must be accepted to attend Northern Illinois University and enroll in the College of Business. The one-time award will be awarded to each qualifying student winner in Illinois Econ Challenge.
The offer of a scholarship also extends to student winners of Illinois Personal Finance Challenge 2012.
