Huskie Family Welcome - NIU - Student Affairs & Enrollment Management - Volunteer

Huskie Family Welcome is the official welcome to new students and their families into the NIU Huskie Family.  Previously called Academic Convocation, the event was envisioned as a "book-end" experience to graduation, mirroring some of the rituals and traditions present when students receive their academic degrees. Now, the newly named Huskie Family Welcome has emerged as a broader, more inclusive welcome into the NIU community for new students and their families, highlighting opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom.

There are a variety of ways to get involved with Huskie Family Welcome and the events leading up to Huskie Family Welcome.  Families will be attending a Family Resource Fair and dinner at the Convocation Center, with the Huskie Family Welcome following.  Faculty are invited to join the students for the Band Run as the procession makes its way across campus, stopping at each residence hall complex from Neptune to the Convocation Center, arriving in time for the Huskie Family Welcome.

A number of participation and/or volunteer opportunities are available to faculty, staff, and returning students. We welcome your participation at these and other Welcome Days events.  If you have questions about any of these opportunities, please contact Angela Branson at or via phone at 815-753-6112. We look forward to seeing you on Opening Day!
