Fall Family Weekend 2014

With great Huskie Pride, Huskie Family Connections announces Fall Family Weekend 2014!
Mark your calendars now for October 3rd through the 5th! We'll kick-off the weekend Friday with Casino Night, co-sponsored by HFC and the Campus Activities Board. The fabulous NIU Huskie Football team will return home to play Kent State. HFC will have a huge tent for tailgating. There will be family activities all weekend long! Keep watching our web page  and Face book for details as they unfold.

PAES Recipient

The Parents' Association Endowed Scholarship selection committee is happy and proud to announce the recipient of this year's award, Raquel Chavez. Raquel is a Political Science major, specializing in International Relations and Spanish and Latino and Latin American Studies. Her leadership in many organizations including; NIU Model United Nations, Alpha Phi Omega, Student Association Mass Transit Board, Pre-law Honors Society, Red Riot, and many more; along with her extensive volunteerism, across a wide swath of diverse charities, set her apart from a field of highly talented applicants. Raquel and all of the Kevin D. Knight Leadership Award recipients will be honored on April 27th with a ceremony and reception.

Mapworks Scholarship

The information for this year's MAP-Works Scholarship is now available. Last year, one of the three students in the country to win a MAP-Works Scholarship was a NIU student, and since the applications are reviewed without the name of the institution, there is no reason that a student from NIU cannot win again! EBI MAP-Works will be providing up to three $1,500 scholarships to students who submit an essay between 800 and 1,600 words in length on one of three essay prompts. To be eligible, students must have taken at least one MAP-Works survey and be currently enrolled. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 30th and should be sent to nate.cole@macmillan.com
Application information and materials can be found here:

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Matt Venaas (mvenaas1@niu.edu) or Randi Napientek (randi@niu.edu) at your earliest convenience.
