Job Description
The ResTech Helpdesk is a team of undergraduate students who provide:
- Software support and network card installs for residents' PCs
- Support for online services including Ethernet and Wireless
- Support for the ResTech Computer Labs
- Computer consulting
- Support and service for the Cyber Terminals
- Hardware and software support for Housing & Dining
Requirements
Working knowledge of the following:
- Operating Systems: Windows (XP/Vista/7/8), Mac OS, Linux
- Internet: E-Mail, Web Browsers (IE, Firefox, etc.), FTP, HTML
- Computer assembly and troubleshooting
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Virus detection and removal
- Spyware/Malware detection and removal
Other requirements:
- Available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Enrolled minimum 6 credit hours as an NIU student
- Must be able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds of equipment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to learn fast and pick up new skills quickly

- Printer maintenance and repair
- Novell Groupwise
Starting Pay Rate
- $11.25 per hour
