The Health Professions House brings together students interested in health and service related careers through professional development opportunities, programs, special events, service projects, and social activities. House residents have opportunities for extensive interaction and to foster relationships with other health and service related majors and with college faculty.
For Fall 2014 - Spring 2015, the Health Professions House will be located in Stevenson Tower A (Floors 3 - 9).
Majors welcome in the Health Professions House include:
Family & Child Studies
Medical Laboratory Science
Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Administration
Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising
Other health/service majors
Floor members shape the focus of the community through programming designed to help students be effective members of a health services team and to appreciate the interrelated nature of the health professions.
Dine & Discuss - students & faculty share a free meal while engaging in discussion on relevant topics
Service Activities - visit assisted living centers, work with local organizations, and assist with blood drives
TV/Movies "Fact or Fiction" - students and faculty watch a program & engage in discussion about what is realistic or not. Faculty often share their won professional experiences
Field Trips - visits to NIU laboratories, and clinics or trips to museums, professional sports games, theatrical productions, and/or zoos. These may vary based on student interests.
