Thank you for joining us as we help new students cross the threshold into their university homes. Over 3,500 new students are expected to move into the halls. Volunteers like you help to make that transition easier for students and their families.
As we gear up for Welcome Days 2008, the Division of Student Affairs invites you to participate in one or more of our exciting activities. Volunteer for one, two, or all three of this year's events below. Sign up is quick and easy! Choose from Opening Day, Huskies Helping Huskies and/or House Calls.
As a special thank you, volunteers who take part in any of our three programs will receive a $5 discount for the 12th annual Great Huskie Bash held on the evening of Thursday, August 21. All are invited to enjoy the annual festival that lights up the night in Central Park (between Grant and Stevenson Towers ). Complete the volunteer sign-up form on this page, and our staff will be in touch with you!
Faculty and staff volunteers will be stationed at kiosks around campus either on Monday, August 25 or Tuesday, August 26, during the first two days of fall classes in two separate shifts. Sign up to help answer students' questions or direct them to their destinations on campus.

Visit first-year students in the halls on the evening of Tuesday, August 26. Volunteers will visit with students and answer any questions they may have. Because this will be the first time many of our newest students have been away from home, House Calls are designed to calm any lingering worries or concerns they may have.

Select your Opening Day shift (morning, afternoon, or both). Four-hour shifts are scheduled from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and from 12 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. If you would like to work through the entire day, your help will be most appreciated. We are grateful for this generous gift of your valuable time.

Prior to the event, you will receive additional information about your Opening Day assignment. You will receive your Opening Day T-shirt at the Red & Black Reception on Thursday, August 14, at 4 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center. Opening Day T-shirts are available only in men's shirt sizes S-XXXL.
