There are three course content topics that fall under the Learning component of the Residential Curriculum. Included here are aspects to add to your living experience while here at NIU and to prepare you for future living experiences.
Some of the goals this course content focuses on are: developing adaptable study, coping, critical thinking, problem-solving, and survival skills; understanding the purpose and relevance of general education; integrating general education and academic major; developing personal goals; developing competencies in verbal and written communication, decision-making, goal setting, time management, and teamwork; developing an awareness and use of academic resources.
Some of the goals this course content focuses on are: participating in and appreciating a variety of cultural events and discussions; extending learning to all aspects of live; examining attitudes and values such as political, religious, and gender issues.
Some of the goals this course content focuses on are: developing an appreciation of differences and the beauty of diversity; enhancing or establishing a respect for diversity that is celebrative, not just tolerant; becoming interpersonally sensitive and understanding.
