Announcement Posting Policy
Message Limits
The slide presentation on Cable 8 and 20 will host no more than 50 slides during any week.
Acceptance Priority
Messages will be accepted first according to submitter access priority.
Priority 1 partner messages will be posted before Priority 2 partner messages are eligible.
Priority 1: Cable 8 and 20 funding partner
- Residence Hall Association
- Hall Councils
- Housing & Dining
- NIU Athletics
- University Administration
Priority 2: University units (e.g.):
- Academic Residential Program Departments and Schools
- Counseling and Student Development Center
- University Police
- Judicial Office
- Orientation Office
- Campus Activity Board
Priority 3: NIU student organizations recognized by Student Association:
- Recognized organizations are listed at www.sa.niu.edu.
- Organizations are limited to two message postings per semester
- Applications for posting must be stamped by Student Involvement and Leadership Development.
Duration of Posting
- Unless preempted by messages from higher priority organizations, messages will remain in rotation for one week.
- If a message promotes an event, the message will remain in rotation only until the event.
- Submissions may be preempted by postings from higher priority organizations.
Deadlines
- All messages are posted on Mondays.
- All messages must be submitted to Cable 8 on Monday, one week (seven calendar days) before the message is to be posted. This is necessary to allow Cable 8 staff to design each frame and to program the slide rotation.
- Example: If a message is to be posted on Monday, August 8, the message must be submitted to Cable 8 and 20 on Monday, August 1.
- Any messages received after the submission deadline will not be posted until the following week.
Design
- Message designs will be created by Cable 8 and 20 staff.
- Cable 8 and 20 will develop “branded” slide templates for key clients.
- Images must be submitted as gif or jpeg files.
- Images must be submitted by email or CD-ROM on IBM compatible media.
- By submitting images to Cable 8 and 20, the submitter stipulates ownership of reproduction rights for any images to be used on slides.
Submission Requirements
- The specific text of each message must be provided on the request form.
- All submissions must include:
- Organization name
- Contact name
- Contact phone
- Contact email
- Faculty or staff adviser name and contact information
- Desired posting date/ending date
Policy Updates
This policy will be updated to meet the needs and capacities of Cable 8 and 20 programming.
