Professional Education Requirements
Undergraduate / Postgraduate Candidates (34 semester hours)
Pre-Student Teaching Clinical Experiences (4 hours)
Pre-Student Teaching Clinical coursework must be taken sequentially, though not necessarily back-to-back. The sequence is completed over a period of three semesters beginning with ILAS 201 then ILAS 301 and finally ILAS 401,which is taken concurrently with HIST 496 the semester prior to student teaching.
- ILAS 201 (40 clock hours, plus required seminars) (1 credit hour)
- ILAS 301 (50 clock hours, plus required seminars) (2 credit hours)
- ILAS 401 A or B (40 clock hours completed concurrently with HIST 496) (1 credit hour)
Educational Theory and Practice Coursework (18 hours)
- EPFE 201 or IDSP 211 Multiculturalism in American Education
- EPFE 400, 410 or 321 “Foundations of Education”
- EPS 406 “Human Development and Learning”
- LTRE 311: "Teaching Reading in the Content Area"
- TLSE 457 “Integrating Exceptional Students”
- ETR 440 “Secondary Classroom Assessment”
- HIST 496 “Teaching Methods”
Student Teaching (12 hours)
