Northern Illinois University Counseling and Consultation Services is dedicated to supporting students on campus. The office offers a variety of services to meet the needs of students which includes walk-in consultation, individual and group counseling, assessments and crisis services.
NIU Police and Public Safety

Northern Illinois University Police and Public Safety department allows students in crisis to speak to the counselor on call. After providing a callback number the counselor on call will return the students call.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and provides support to those who are in suicidal crisis. For those who are non-English speaking the Lifeline will accommodate.
The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project hotline provides support for members of the LGBTQ community in suicidal crisis.
The Hope Line
The Hope Line is dedicated to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety or crisis. The Hope Line is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Veterans Crisis Line

The Veterans Crisis Line will connect Veterans in crisis with responders from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The line is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and can make accommodations for those whom are non-English speaking or hard of hearing.
