Housing and Dining

Guidepost

Welcome to the NIU Residence and Dining Halls!

“Responsibility does not only lie with the leaders of our countries or with those who have been appointed or elected to do a particular job. It lies with each of us individually.” - Dalai Lama.

In an effort to build safe, responsible, inclusive communities in the residence halls, we are providing you with this handbook that outlines the expectations for responsible behavior in our communities. In addition to residence hall policies, there are other resources available to you regarding housing procedures, housing contract terms and conditions, University guidelines, and technology support. These resources include: Northern Illinois University Residence Hall Contract Addendum (available on the Housing & Dining Web site at www.housing.niu.edu), Student Code of Conduct, and the ResTech Connections CD you received when you moved into the residence halls. Additional information, as well as on-campus living news and updates, is available at the Housing & Dining site listed above.

If you have questions concerning this handbook or any of the Housing & Dining policies and procedures, please consult your Community Advisor (CA) or Hall Director. They will be happy to assist you.

I hope that your residence hall experience will create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Sincerely,

Michael Stang
