About the Festival

The Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability, and Energy (ESE Institute) and the Division of Outreach, Engagement, and Information Technologies at Northern Illinois University are planning the fourth annual Green Lens Environmental Film Festival for February 24-27, 2014.

The theme of this year’s film festival is The Planet in Focus. The event will be hosted throughout DeKalb and will feature films submitted by all talent levels, informational displays from sponsors and local organizations, a panel discussion of local environmental experts, and so much more!

The mission of the Green Lens Environmental Film Festival is to provide Northern Illinois with an opportunity to experience films with environmental themes that are relevant to both the local and global communities. Green Lens provides a venue for filmmakers to screen their films and receive recognition for significant contributions. The festival seeks to explore topics related to the environment, sustainability, and energy while encouraging community involvement. Through its association with Northern Illinois University, Green Lens shares the mission of creating a community of diverse people, ideas, services, and scholarly endeavors in a climate of respect for the intrinsic dignity of each individual.
