True North is the first campaign for Northern Illinois University. This philanthropic effort has already made university history.
Our generous alumni and friends have committed more than $153 million, surpassing our $150 million goal almost one year early and in spite of difficult times for our university and our nation.
But our work is not done.
Our ultimate goal is, and always has been, to help our students. NIU students need our help now more than ever: Rising tuition, dwindling state grants, limited job opportunities, and scarcity of loans make it one the hardest times in history to get through school.
During the True North campaign, we have awarded 13,700 scholarships totaling more than $8.2 million to help students reach their dreams.
True North has brought three state of the art facilities to NIU. We now have more than 20 named professorships and chairs to support faculty teaching and research.
