Chris McLinden
When I went to Moscow I worked harder than I ever had before. We went to class from 8 to 5, and then every night went to the theatre to see some of the best performers in the world on stage.
The Moscow Art Theatre is one of the best places in the world to study method acting, and while I was there everything I learned at NIU was magnified. Intensified. I learned how to get inside of a character and connect with the words with emotions. I discovered how to find the character in myself.

That experience helped me grow, not just as an actor, but also as a person.

I gained a level of confidence that has made a huge difference in my career. But the foundation came from NIU. The professors are amazing and they gave me one-on-one attention that I don’t think you can find just anywhere unless you can afford to pay three times as much for your degree.

NIU has a lot of graduates out there pursuing successful careers and a great reputation in the theatre community. I'm really proud to be part of that group.
Chris McLinden is a graduate of NIU and has performed at Chicago’s renowned Steppenwolf Theatre, as well as the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. He is pursuing a career in acting and theater production and hopes someday to work with high school theater students.
