My name is Ang. I grew up in Poland, went through my early rebellious stages in Chicago, was graduated from high school in Arlington Heights, and here I am, in DeKalb. I'm a Spanish Language & Literature major, and I'm still kind of new to everything here. For example, I just learned last week about Barsema Hall, and I still need to figure out how to get from Watson to DuSable without going in circles and getting lost.
As far as my interests go, there's really no laundry list. I'm a dancer: Ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical – I've done it all. I fell in love with dancing at the age of four, and I never really got over it. I don't play sports because I usually end up chasing after the ball in the opposite direction, my mom gave up on my piano lessons before we even got to the second one, and I mess up drawing stick figures. Besides that, I'm a huge Harry Potter maniac, and I have read the whole series at least twenty times in two languages. And no, the movies are not better.
My major goal for the next few years is to travel abroad, preferably to either Spain or Costa Rica or both, and learn even more about different cultures. Coming from Europe myself, I see the opportunities and benefits of being exposed to more than just what is familiar and comfortable. I hope to one day be an interpreter for the United Nations, but if for some reason that doesn't work out, I wouldn't mind teaching and showing others how amazing it is to roll your Rs and call any customer service, press 2, and not have to wait on the line for 25 minutes.
Lastly, I am not ashamed to admit that I'm a cat lady in training.
