Despite the continued rise in the cost of higher education, NIU remains an affordable choice. From grants and loans, to scholarships and campus employment, there are a lot of ways to finance your education at NIU.
Our Financial Aid Office staff are experts in helping you manage college costs. It all starts with filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1 for the following school year. Filing by this deadline will not only begin the process of securing the resources needed to fund your education, but will also assure that you are considered for the maximum amount of aid for which you are eligible. Our graduated tuition plan reduces the cost per credit hour as you add classes, letting you take more classes for less money.
The Scholarship Office is a great resource for information, including private scholarships, both in the office and on the website.
