The Office of Federal Relations represents the university in its interactions with members of Congress and executive branch agencies.  The Office advocates for NIU faculty, staff, students, and our broader regional community, and provides a wide range of opportunities for the NIU community to interact with federal officials both in Illinois and in Washington, DC.

The Office is housed within the Division of Research and Innovation Partnerships, and one of its goals is to promote federal research and to assist faculty in making appropriate agency contacts.

The Office also works to ensure that the voice of the NIU community is heard on other matters of public policy that pertain to higher education and student success.
