Degree: Bachelor's degree in Sociology with certificates in Criminology and Social Entrepreneurship
The moment Candy Rosales came to NIU, "It just felt like home to me," she said.
Inspired by a high school teacher who took her on a tour of campus and helped her earn a partial scholarship, Rosales definitely made herself at home. The 22-year-old graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology with certificates in Criminology and Social Entrepreneurship, along with a minor in Spanish, all while remaining quite active on campus.
She was part of the Adela de la Torre Latino Honor Society through the Latino Resource Center, the Alpha Phi Gamma sorority and the executive board for the United Greek Council, as well as an NIU service leader and a Spanish and sociology tutor.
"Get involved, and do it with fear," she said. "Do everything you want with fear because, eventually, the fear won't matter. The fear won't be your focus. And be kind, always. Be kind to people. Meet new people. Because you never know not necessarily when you're going to need them, but you just never know what they're going to teach you."
