Donors to the School have enabled us to give a small amount of support to graduate students for research projects, including thesis research, and for travel to present at professional meetings.
Six one-time grants of $125 are available each year for support of research. Three will be given in the fall, and three in the spring.
To apply, please write a letter to me in which you provide a brief summary of your research and a budget for items such as duplication, postage, instrument purchase, material supplies—but not manuscript preparation. Your request is due by October 15 and March 15. A committee will review your request. Grants will be disbursed after you have successfully defended your thesis.
Ten grants of $100 are available each year (5 per semester) to support student presentations at conferences. The money may be used for travel to the conference, registration, or a combination.
To apply for the grant, students should provide proof that their name is on the conference program and should write a request for support, addressed to the chair. A committee will review the request. After the conference, please turn in original receipts to Pat Siebrasse. Funds will be disbursed after the conference. Requests are due Sept 15, November 15, January 15, March 15, and May 15.
