The Family Center of NIU provides a wide range of mental health services:
- Conflicts or problems with a partner
- Problems with a roommate
- Difficulty adjusting to a new school schedule
- Feeling overwhelmed with homework
- Trying to cope with a divorce or separation
- Family conflict with children or need of parental support
- Struggling with decisions about marriage
- Drug or alcohol dependence
- Physical, sexual, or psychological abuse; past or present
- Loneliness, anxiety, fear or thoughts of suicide
- Low self-esteem
- Assertiveness and decision making
- Insomnia or excessive sleep
- Sexual orientation or coming out
- Lack of motivation
- Eating disorders
- Out of control thoughts/ behaviors
- Difficulty with attention/ concentration
- Uncertainty about leaving school
- Coping with medical illness
- Unwanted pregnancy
- Sexually transmitted disease
