Overview

By itself, technology - which has put a world of information at our fingertips - can leave learners feeling alone and without clear purpose or aim. Traditional classrooms, on the other hand, can leave them feeling isolated and disconnected from the world at large. However, we are inherently social beings who learn best through our connections to others!  The challenge then, is how we make learning more ...human?

Connected Learning is a pedagogical approach designed for learning in the digital and networked age. The focus is on instruction that can activate relationships and communities through supporting exploration, discovery, and inquiry-based learning. The same technologies and techniques that we use to connect to friends and family can also support social connectivity in learning, to engage and motivate students!

In this afternoon session at this year’s Teaching with Technology Institute, we will investigate the use of digital tools that can promote interactions, discussions, collaboration, and ultimately establish a vibrant learning community.
