Video is ubiquitous in the lives of our students. What used to be a difficult medium to master is now more accessible than ever. At the same time, the capabilities of video as a medium have expanded and evolved to include increased immediacy and interactivity. However, we have yet to realize the full potential for video in the classroom for delivering content, engaging students, and building community.

In this session you will learn about free/low cost, modern video capture tools and pedagogical strategies to effectively utilize video in your course. This includes new recording tools, annotation programs, and publication platforms. You will also discover the formats and types of video that are appropriate to meet your instructional goals and objectives.

Registration Information

This institute is open to NIU faculty, instructors, and SPS and Civil Services staff. Registered participants will receive workshop materials and a certificate of participation. Please register by the deadline. After you register, if you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration by Monday, May 30, 2016 at facdev.niu.edu/myprograms so that those on the waiting list may be given the opportunity to attend the institute or program costs can be reduced.
