Presidential Teaching Professor Seminar
Connecting with Students in the Classroom: Enhancing Cognitive Development
Dr. Carole Minor
Presidential Teaching Professor
Department of
Counseling, Adult, and Higher Education
Student’s attitudes toward knowledge can be characterized by stages they
proceed through during their years at college. As they travel through different
intellectual and moral levels of development, students should be allowed to
voice their opinions and beliefs, as defined by their perspectives, in a
classroom environment which embraces this growth.
Dr. Minor will discuss these stages of development and how she facilitates
intellectual development in her own teaching. Bring a syllabus to work with in
incorporating the ideas discussed into your own class(es).
Everyone is welcome!
