Alexsandra Hsiao

Piano - Apprentice 2

Alexsandra Hsiao is a piano student pursuing her master’s degree in piano performance under Dr. William Goldenberg`s guidance at the NIU School of Music, where she was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship. She completed her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Sao Paulo.

Growing up in Brazil, she won several piano solo competitions and from a very young age and has been teaching private piano lessons to students of different ages and backgrounds. This has allowed her to learn and build solid piano teaching skills as well as cultivate a positive teaching personality. An experience she valued and enjoyed immensely was teaching at a Portuguese-Chinese school where she taught Chinese students ages 5 to 10 years old.

Presently, she is enrolled in the Piano Methods and Materials class taught by Dr. JeongSoo Kim, where she is able to learn and brainstorm new ideas in order to develop and increase her teaching abilities. Alexsandra has also conducted church choir for about five years and is currently an active piano accompanist for the Opera Theatre of the NIU School of Music.
