Kate SwopeKate Swope, French horn

Kate Swope (apprentice 2) earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in horn performance from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.  She is currently a student at NIU, where she is working on a performer’s certificate in horn and master’s degree in wind conducting.  She studies horn with Professor John Fairfield and conducting with Dr. Ronnie Wooten.  She has played with the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra and the Indiana Wind Symphony and is a member of the NIU Graduate Brass Quintet, Graduate Woodwind Quintet and the Philharmonic. She performs regularly with the Illinois Valley Symphony and the Fox Valley Orchestra.  She has taught private lessons since 2008.
