Amanda Fawcett-Lothson (apprentice 3) currently teaches violin and works as the program assistant for the NIU Community School of the Arts. She earned her master's degree in historical musicology from NIU in 2012. In 2009, she graduated from Indiana University in South Bend with her bachelor's degree in violin. While in Indiana, she was concertmaster of the Indiana University South Bend Philharmonic and participated in chamber and new music ensembles. She has studied violin with Cyrus Forough, Stefan Hersh, and with members of the Avalon, Pacifica, and Euclid string quartets. She has performed with several orchestras including the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra, and the Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has several years experience teaching students privately, in undergraduate courses in music appreciation at NIU and American music at Kishwaukee College. She also has three forthcoming entries in the second edition of the New Grove Dictionary of American Music (2013).
