What our campers say...

NIU Jazz Camp

This camp exceeded my expectations. I was in Prof. Carter’s band and I learned so much stuff that I have never learned before! This was the most I ever learned in one week.
Nick Sargent

This camp taught me what I needed to know in order to become better in jazz. It gave me confidence in my playing ability.
Caleb Walton

I came back to Jazz Camp again this year because it’s fun to spend time with the people and I really learn a lot every time. The percussion counselors this year were amazing musicians and had so much to teach.
Gwen Schulte

The talent show was amazing. It gave people the chance to learn more about others by seeing what else they could do besides jazz.
Christina Sennebogen

The music instructors were great. They were willing to work with you and to help you with anything. I learned a lot this week about improv.
Tim Fergus

I didn’t plan to do the jam sessions, but one of the counselors talked me into trying it. My solo ended up being pretty cool!
Rhiann Owen

Ron Carter is energetic and has tons of experience to share. All the instructors were great – they had so much to offer if you were willing to listen. The faculty concert was awesome.
Joe DePeder

This camp was educational. The only lament I have is that we were not given enough time to practice. I am very thankful for the motivation and inspiration I now have and all the people I met.
Brittany Karlson

Theatre Arts Camp Senior

I came last year and enjoyed this year even better. I loved the improv games and the workshops. They were all amazing, honestly!
Yaron Lotan

I love this camp to death. I loved swordplay and I can finally speak with a British accent!
Cara Jones

I loved the way my acting scenes teacher suggested changes in scenes, but made us use our own thoughts to figure out how to do this. The auditions were fun and I found the teachers and counselors great – everyone here cares so much.
Tori Addis

This camp is beyond the expectations that I had for it. Thank you. The time went so fast this year that I couldn’t believe it when I realized it was almost over.
Kayla Dickens

I worked with lights for the very first time and it is sweet!
Lydia Young

I want to come back next year. These people became family.
Nora Foley

Theatre Arts Camp Junior

I really enjoyed storytelling night. I loved listening to the storyteller and then telling our own stories. The best thing about the camp was the balance of free time and practice.
Jessica Cianci

I loved all the activities this week. And I got to be with people who love the same things I do.
Trinity Jade Williams

The workshops were very helpful. Next time I audition for a musical, I’ll think of the tips my teachers gave me. I loved doing musical theatre. The week went by so fast!
Kelsey Kretzer

I was in Midsummer Night’s Dream. I looked forward to rehearsals every day. I loved working with my friends to create a great end product. Our director was just hard enough on us to get the show looking good, but was also a great person to work with.
Sara Sanders

I loved writing a play. Being in the musical made me cry. What I liked best this week was meeting new people and making so many new friends.
Jordan Berger

It was a great camp. I learned a lot and HAD A BLAST!
Molly Traverso
