Directions to NIU  

To the NIU Campus:

ATTENTION: The Annie Glidden Road exit from I-88 will be closed June 19 - August 18, 2006. Please take the Peace Road exit north to Illinois 38. Turn left (west) to the NIU campus and Annie Glidden Road.

From the Northern Suburbs - Go west on I-88 and take the Annie Glidden Road exit for DeKalb. Turn right (north) onto Annie Glidden Road. Travel approximately two miles to the NIU campus.

From the Southern Suburbs - Go north on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to I-88. Follow I-88 west and exit at the Annie Glidden Road exit. Travel approximately two miles to the NIU campus.

From the Northwest - Go south on I-39/U.S. 51 to the Illinois 38 exit (Exit 99). Proceed east on Route 38 to Northern Illinois University, about 16 miles.

From the West - Go east on I-88 to I-39. Proceed north on I-39 to the Illinois 38 exit (Exit 99). Follow Illinois 38 east to Northern Illinois University, about 16 miles.

From the Southwest - Go north on I-39 to the Illinois 38 exit (Exit 99). Proceed east on Illinois 38 to DeKalb. Northern Illinois University is about 16 miles from the I-39/Illinois 38 interchange.

From Downtown Chicago - Go west on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to I-88. Follow I-88 west to DeKalb and exit north at the Annie Glidden Road exit. Travel approximately two miles to the NIU campus.

Around the NIU Campus:

To the Music and Art Buildings:
From I-88: Travel north approximately two miles on Annie Glidden Road, and turn right (east) onto Lucinda Avenue. The Art Building (Jack Arends Hall) is about two blocks after the turn and is the first building on the right after you pass Gilbert Drive. The Music Building is the next building to the east.

From Route 38 East or West: Turn north at the main university gates on Castle Drive; travel about half a mile and turn right (east) on College Avenue. The Art Building (Jack Arends Hall) is the first building on the left after you pass Gilbert Drive. The Music Building is the next building to the east.

To the Stevens Building: From Illinois 38, turn north on Carroll Avenue. Turn left (west) on University Circle Drive. Stevens Building is the first building on the right.

To the Summer Conference Center (Grant Towers): The Summer Conference Center is west of Annie Glidden Road, which is accessed from I-88 by taking the Annie Glidden exit and traveling north or, if traveling on Illinois 38, by turning north on Annie Glidden. Once on Annie Glidden, turn left (west) at Lincoln Drive North. Grant Towers will be directly ahead. For Grant North, turn right (north). For Grant South, turn left (right). There are drop-off areas for luggage at each entrance.
