Join the CSA Samba School and become part of a great carnival tradition from Brazil. The batucada (samba patterns played in samba schools) is the focus of this class, but other Brazilian rhythms are also covered. Instruments in this percussion-only ensemble include the surdo (a large tom-tom), agogo (set of bells), tamborim (small drum), chocalho (shaker), caixa (snare drum), and repinique (small tom-tom). All instruments are provided. Everyone is welcome; the only requirement is lots of enthusiasm! For a taste of some great batucada, click on http://www.evanstonescola.com/classes.htm.
