Ages 14 - 20

26 Sundays, 6:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m., Room 155, Music Building

September 11 - May 6; no rehearsals November 6, December 11 - January 8, February 19, March 25, and April 8.

Note: Rehearsal on February 5 (Super Bowl Sunday) is from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The last rehearsal in fall is December 4; rehearsals resume in spring on January 15.

Admission is by audition only; call to ask about openings in the 2011-2012 ensemble.  Spring 2012 update:  The band needs two trombones and one-two trumpets.  If you are interested in auditioning, call the office at (815) 753-1450 by January 13 to arrange an audition.

Concerts: October 30, February 12, May 6, 7:30 p.m., Concert Hall.

Become a player in a top regional jazz big band! Play the classics by Ellington, Basie, and others, as well as tunes written by new composers. Players should have at least minimal proficiency in tone production, sight-reading, improvisation, and should understand different styles used in jazz music. The band is composed of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, piano, guitar, bass, drums, and vocalist. Call (815) 753-1450 to ask about openings in this year's band.

Auditions for the 2012-2013 CSJazz Band - May 14: Auditions for next year’s ensemble begin at 4 p.m. Call (815) 753-1450 for an audition time. Bring a prepared piece, either a transcription or from the school jazz folder and be prepared to sight-read and improvise.
