The Performathon is a gala day of student musical performances and art exhibits. The event is held once every two years. Join us on April 10, 2010, for this day-long celebration of the arts.
The Performathon is a major fundraising event for the scholarship programs. These programs provide vital aid to students in financial need and to talented young people to pursue their study of the arts. Since 1993, over $75,000 has been raised and more than 500 students have received scholarship support. Please get involved in the Performathon so we can continue to help our students!
Performathon is a great performance opportunity for the students enrolled in the program, as well as a way to help others. Students who perform make a pledge to help raise money by mailing pledge requests to relatives, friends, and supporters. Local businesses are asked to support the event through the donation of raffle prizes and advertising in the event's program booklet.
NEW THIS YEAR! Alums on Facebook: This year for the first time, the Performathon program will feature the comments of alums. We are setting up a community school Facebook page. Alums will be asked to check in with us to let us know where they are and what they are doing. Can you think of ways your involvement with the community school made a difference in your life? We would like to hear from as many alums as possible!
Performathon Action Committee: The Performathon needs volunteers to help make it all happen. Consider joining the action committee and help shape the day.
How Performathon works: Pledge sheets and information are mailed to all community school students early in spring semester. Students mail pledge sheets to family, friends, and neighbors. At the same time, students contact the community school office to let us know that you are planning to perform on April 10. The scheduling process begins!
OTHER PERFORMATHON ACTIVITIES
Prizes: The three students who send out the most Performathon pledge sheets receive a prize.
T-shirt Design Competition: Students are invited to participate in the t-shirt design competition. The winner’s design is the one that goes on the shirt that everyone receives for playing on April 10.
Used Music Swap: Everyone is invited to shop for “new” music. Lots of people have piles of old music in their homes. We invite them to donate these to the Performathon so we can sell the music – to YOU. Old CD’s, cassette tapes, and other music paraphernalia are also welcome.
Silent Auction: Local businesses have been generous to past Performathons and it is our hope that 2010 will be no different. Wonderful prizes are on display throughout the day of Performathon. The bidding gets fierce!
