Performathon 2012

Performathon 2012

The Performathon is a gala day of student musical performances and art exhibits. The event is held once every two years. Join us on March 10 for this day-long celebration of the arts. Click here for a the artist's statement, a painted violin flyer, a teeshirt order form, and a raffle ticket form.

The Performathon is a major fundraising event for the scholarship programs. These programs provide vital aid to students in financial need and to talented young people to pursue their study of the arts. Since 1993, over $75,000 has been raised and more than 650 students have received scholarship support. Please get involved in the Performathon so we can continue to help our students!

Performathon is a great performance opportunity for the students enrolled in the program, as well as a way to help others. Students who perform make a pledge to help raise money by mailing pledge requests to relatives, friends, and supporters. Local businesses are asked to support the event through the donation of raffle prizes and advertising in the event's program booklet.

Performathon Action Committee: Thanks to this year's committee members Anis Stenger, Rick Uplegger, Laura Hauer, Ellen Prall, Kathy Brancato, and Varsie Geisler.  We will need more volunteers for March 10.  If you have an hour or two to give, please call the office at (815) 753-1450.

How Performathon works: Pledge sheets and information are distributed to all community school students early in spring semester. Students share pledge sheets with family, friends, and neighbors. At the same time, students contact the community school office to let us know that you are planning to perform on the big day. The scheduling process begins!

OTHER PERFORMATHON ACTIVITIES

Prizes: The three students who send out the most Performathon pledge sheets receive a prize.

Used Music Swap: Everyone is invited to shop for “new” music. Lots of people have piles of old music in their homes. We invite them to donate these to the Performathon so we can sell the music – to YOU. Gently used CD’s, musical instruments, stands, and other music items are also welcome.

Raffle: Local businesses have been generous to past Performathons and it is our hope that 2012 will be no different. Wonderful prizes are on display throughout the day of Performathon. The bidding gets fierce!

Painted Violin!  Anna Kennedy, a wonderful artist and parent of violinist Sophie Kennedy, is painting a violin.  The theme is Jest Fiddlin'.  Raffle tickets are available NOW and cost $5.00 apiece or 6 for $25.00.  The winning ticket will be drawn on March 10 at the end of the final concert of the day.  You do not need to be present to win.    This year's Performathon teeshirt will feature the violin.
