Raymond W. Alden III was appointed Executive Vice President and Provost beginning July 1, 2006. He received a BA/BS in biology from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida and a Ph.D in Zoology from the University of Florida. Alden spent more than a decade at the University of Nevada Las Vegas as the chief academic officer. Prior to that he spent 21 years at Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia where he served on the faculty and, during the last 15 years, as director of ODU's multidisciplinary Applied Marine Research Laboratory.
