Expertise: Marc Falkoff teaches courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, lawyering skills and habeas corpus. He holds a Ph.D. in American Literature from Brandeis University, an M.A. from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the NIU faculty, he was an associate at Covington & Burling, where he was the principal lawyer in the habeas representation of seventeen Yemeni men detained by the U.S. military at Guantanamo Bay. For this work, he received the firm's Charles F.C. Ruff Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award. He has also taught courses in post-conviction remedies and prisoners' rights at Brooklyn Law School.
