I specialize in percussion music of the 20th and 21st Centuries. I perform around the globe as a percussion solo artist, and at NIU I run a student ensemble that performs music in the same genre. I also run the NIU Latin Jazz Ensemble, and I'm particularly interested in popular and folkloric music from the Carribbean and Central and South America with African roots, especially Brazilian music. I have a special project involving the Afro-Brazilian berimbau, a musical bow that is used commonly in the martial art of Capoeira Angola.
