I am an historian who specializes in 20th century women's history, gender, and sexuality. My book manuscript is entitled "Sex Anarchy: Women, Girls, and American Sexual Culture in the Mid-20th Century." I also have articles published about female drink solicitation ("bar girls") and same-sex desire among female youth in the 1950s. In History, I teach the US History survey post-1865; American Girlhoods; and US Women's History. In Women's Studies, I teach Women, Sex, and Gender Today, which is an introductory survey. I am also an active participant in online discussions about feminism (including young women's activism today), feminist parenting, and feminist birth practices. Finally, I am developing a course in Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender History and am happy to talk about LGBT history and politics. I am an out lesbian; my family (of two moms and two daughters) has been covered in the local media (Kane County Chronicle).
