Primary research interests include urban communities and crime, specifically investigating neighborhood structural effects and community organization on crime prevention and control. My recent research involves projects examining the sociological experiences of released sex offenders, as well as the link between animal violence and human crime in urban communities. Teaching interests and recent course taught include criminology and criminological theory, deviance, and the sociology of animals.
