The NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology offers alumni and friends of the college many opportunities to support students, faculty and programs within the college.

To contribute to any of the scholarships or expendable funds listed below, contact the NIU Foundation Office at (815) 753-0782.

Endowed Scholarships

Endowed scholarship funds exist in perpetuity because it is a portion of the interest income from the endowment, not the principal, that serves as the source for scholarship funding. Preserving the principal enables NIU students to benefit from your generosity year after year. Endowed scholarships to which CEET alumni and friends may contribute include:

  • The Engineering and Technology Alumni Society Scholarship. Established in 2000, this scholarship is funded entirely through donations. With a current endowment of $50,000 this fund has provided students with scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $2,000.
  • The “Doc” and Betty Newell Endowed Scholarship Fund. Created by Professor Emeritus Darell “Doc” E. Newell, this fund provides scholarships to students in Electrical Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering. Doc’s former students have donated generously, creating a fund that will ensure that Doc’s legacy will live on in future generations of students.

In addition to the opportunities listed above there are other opportunities for giving.  Several individuals and corporations have established expendable and endowed scholarship funds for the benefit of students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
