Why Is Environmental Science Education Important?

The environment offers a relevant context for the learning and integration of core content knowledge, making it an essential component of a comprehensive science education program.

Environmental science education is also an important way to foster the environmental literacy of our nation's youth. By learning about environmental concepts, students develop a foundation for future understanding and action as citizens. The critical-thinking skills they gain will prepare them to evaluate issues and make informed decisions regarding the stewardship of our planet.
