Project on Civic Reflection
As part of a recent strategic planning effort, NIU has been identifying and organizing various engagement activities on campus. The Project on Civic Reflection (PCR) helps NIU students, faculty, and staff come together to discuss and relate a piece of literature or media to their civic engagement experiences. By participating in the Project on Civic Reflection, NIU is becoming more unified as a university. It eliminates individual organizations' attempts to provide discussion on civic engagement. It also educates both students and faculty alike through meaningful discussion.
The project’s activities fall neatly within the NIU’s Office of Student Engagement & Experiential Learning and as such a mechanism is in place for continuation of a reflection series using staff from that office. In addition, all Students in Service participants are trained facilitators. Since the content of these dialogues aligns with the Northern Pact’s theme this year is a “caring” community, we will also promote the civic reflection series through the Northern Pact events.
How Can I Get Involved?
- Participate in campus-wide PCR discussions!
- Become a Project on Civic Reflection Facilitator!
