Laser Safety
Lasers have become valuable tools in industry, research and entertainment when used properly. The Radiation Safety Office works with laboratory personnel to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing the use of lasers in research at NIU. The Radiation Safety Office provides Laser Safety Training to all levels of personnel, ensures laser laboratories are set up and maintained properly and provides support in the selection and installation of safety devices.
In order to use lasers and laser systems at NIU, interested faculty members must submit an application to the Radiation Safety Office for review and approval by the Laser Safety Committee. For more information call Dave at 815-753-1093.
