Why?

The broader impact of this outreach project is that it enhances STEM education, especially through mentoring under female role models in an effort to raise the awareness in the field of engineering. It also enables the participants, the Girl Scouts organizations and parents to become ambassadors of the STEM education and its importance, to the sustainability of the U.S. as a world leader.

The SWE undergraduate students would gain valuable understanding of diverse student needs, classroom cultures, teaching and learning, drawing them to pursue careers in education. Girl Scout Councils would gain confidence in the educational system and enthusiasm for ways in which engineering partnerships could benefit them.
