The primary objective of the NIU-IEEE student branch is to bridge the gap between industrial expectations and institutional education by bolstering the technical dexterity of student members beyond mere book knowledge. Through regular seminars and networking events, we also strive to instill professional awareness among student members. The Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is a philanthropic international organization dedicated to developing and implementing engineering solutions to problems in the developing world. The NIU EWB is a newly formed student chapter and is currently being mentored by the EWB student chapter of Marquette University. The NIU EWB is working hard to become an independent and fully operational student chapter of the EWB by Summer 2008. All majors are welcome to join the NIU EWB.
