Admission to the Economics Program

Correspondence about undergraduate admission to the university
should be addressed to:

All applicants may be requested to submit the following materials:

1. A formal application for admission.

2. An official high school transcript indicating class rank and courses completed. Class rank should be indicated as of the end of the sixth, seventh, or eighth semester unless the applicant will be an early graduate. (Applicants with 24 or more semester hours of transferable credit who have completed Northern's core competency requirements in English, mathematics, and oral communicationare not required to submit a high school transcript.

3. An official American College Test (ACT) score report. (Students' copies cannot be accepted.) The ACT code for NIU is 1102. Official ACT score reports sent directly to Northern Illinois University from the American College Testing Program(ACT) within the previous 12 months will be retained in the Office of Admissions. (Applicants with 24 or more semester hours of transferable credit who have completed Northern's core competency requirements in English, mathematics, and oral communication are not required to submit an official ACT score report but are encouraged to do so for research purposes.)

4. An official transcript from each college attended (sent by each college to the Office of Admissions).
