Virginia Wilcox-Gök - Associate Professor


Professor Virginia Wilcox-Gök received her Ph.D. from Washington University in 1984. Before joining the faculty at NIU, she taught at the University of Florida and Rutgers University. She served on the Services Research Review Committee at the National Institute for Mental Health from 1999-2002. She has been the principal investigator on several grants from federal agencies and private foundation including: the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institutes of Health and the AARP Andrus Foundation. She was the recipient of NIU's Award for Outstanding Achievement in External Funding (2000).

Dissertation Title:   "Sibling Data and Child Health" (1984)


Current Research:
  Her research includes work on the family determinants of health and medical care use, the financial performance of for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals, the impact of supplementary health insurance on medical care use by Medicare enrollees, and most recently, labor and health economics.
