DeKalb – More than 50 teachers, parents, administrators and staff from DeKalb District 428 and Northern Illinois University met Monday, Oct. 27, for a Partnership School kick-off meeting and workshop.
The group quickly settled into working committees, discussing issues, tasks and timelines involved in planning and opening a new K-5 elementary school in the former Malta High School building. Slated to open in late August of 2004, the partnership school is a joint venture between the district and NIU that will provide unique learning experiences for children and expanded clinical placements and research opportunities for the university.
