Funding

Our U.S. Department of Education Title VI funding provides undergraduate and graduate Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for Southeast Asian language and area studies. Academic-year fellowships cover tuition and fees and a monthly stipend. Summer fellowships offer funding for intensive language study at approved institutions in Southeast Asia or in the U.S. It's easy to apply for a FLAS online: you just need to fill out one application, specify summer, academic year or both. CSEAS also administers the Clark and Arlene Neher Graduate Fellowship for the Study of Southeast Asia through the NIU Foundation. Fellowships open on December 1 each year. For more information, contact CSEAS Office Administrator Tiffany Adams at tadams5@niu.edu.
