Individual Counseling

If you need assistance with personal/emotional concerns or mental health emergencies, please call Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) at 815-753-1206.

If individual counseling at Counseling and Consultation Services is recommended during your initial consultation, you will discuss the goals and length of counseling with your counselor. Counseling at CCS is based on a short-term model due to the demand for services. This means that we develop strategies to address your goals and then determine the approximate number of sessions necessary to meet those goals. The number of sessions that you will receive ranges from two to fourteen, with most being seen for six to eight sessions.

At times, the number of students requesting counseling services is greater than our staff resources. If you attend an initial consultation during one of these high-demand periods, you may be placed on a waiting list but we will make every effort to connect you with services to meet your needs and goals.
